The War Department announced it will expand its GenAI.mil artificial intelligence platform by integrating xAI for Government’s advanced capabilities. This expansion builds on the department’s ongoing deployment of AI tools across its workforce.
Under the agreement, xAI’s frontier AI systems, based on the Grok family of models, will be embedded directly into GenAI.mil. The initial deployment is expected in early 2026 and will be available at Impact Level 5, allowing secure handling of Controlled Unclassified Information for authorized military and civilian users.
The expanded AI capabilities aim to support daily workflows for Department of War personnel, providing access to real‑time insights and advanced tools. Leaders describe this move as part of scaling an AI ecosystem focused on speed, security and decision effectiveness.
